"In this 1 acre area, approximately 25 ash trees had been killed by emerald ash borer (EAB) from 2015 to 2019."

Throughout Shukun Zong’s architectural career, the interaction between space, humans, and nature has always been the central focus in his design development.
In 2023, due to safety concerns, twenty-three dead ash trees on his family property had to be cut down. He kept all the logs on site and reused some for creative projects with his kids.

In the past two years, Shukun has been diligently searching for a way to “preserve” these trees and create an enduring memory of them.

The tree that children climb and play on, and the tree you find solace under, gazing out from your window to enjoy the view. The journey of this tree didn't end when it fell down.
If you are seeking a way to honor the tree that once stood tall and held cherished memories for your family at your property, we'd be delighted to create a memorable experience for you.

Preparation is key to achieving the best results. We'll start by leveling the stump, then smooth the surface using a planer and sandpaper. Once the surface is smooth, we'll use a torch to burn it, creating a stamp-like effect for the print.
After all the process is complete, the stump will serve as a lasting and meaningful mark on your property, standing for decades. The resulting print will become a remarkable piece of art that will enrich your life.

The tree stump print, in addition to being a unique artwork to adorn your living space, serves as a cherished reminder of our connection to nature.
This exclusive private event is just for your family and friends. We'll be there to assist you in creating a personalized print, and you can even participate in the process to make a remarkable memory together.
